“Can you hear me now?” Hearing loss may not be the first workplace hazard that comes to mind, but for many occupations it is a constant and serious risk with long-term, and sometimes career-ending, consequences. Unlike many injuries, hearing loss happens gradually, often without pain or warning, and the impact on your work and quality of life may not be fully realized until the damage is already done. That’s why it’s important to pay attention now—before it’s too late.
In this training, you will learn how to identify different types of noise exposure and recognize hazardous noise sources that may be present in your workplace. You will also learn to identify common signs and symptoms of hearing loss and understand how excessive noise affects the ear over time. The course takes a closer look at the responsibilities of both employers and employees in maintaining an effective hearing conservation program, including monitoring noise levels, providing protection, and following safe work practices.
You will also explore practical methods of hearing protection, including when protection is required, how to select appropriate hearing protection, and how to use and care for it properly. Understanding these controls helps reduce exposure and protect your hearing throughout your career.
Whether you work in manufacturing, construction, general industry, or any environment with constant, loud, or potentially harmful noise—from DJs to dump truck drivers—this course is designed to help you recognize the risks and take action to protect your hearing.
This program is available with Amharic, Arabic, Bosnian, Creole, Croatian, French, Korean, Kurdish, Nepali, Spanish, Swahili, and Vietnamese closed captions.
